The Answer by George Green (former manager of Jay Z and etc)

If you ask me what my inspirations are, I'd say its these people.

Alhamdulillah was given the chance to attend a talk session"The Answer" by Brother George Green, who basically shared his journey towards Islam for the past 3 years. Why do I find him special is that, he was a person who had been in the music industry (hiphop to be precise) for about 15 years. He became the touring manager to well known hiphop artists like Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Akon, 50 Cent and Linkin Park, I think theres more but you get the idea. He lived the lifestyle that offers all the luxury people would die for, which in this case would be million dollar music business, partying, nightlife, drugs and women. All these things had allowed him to live the life he wanted until at one point he said, 'I have everything, so now what?'

Due to this, he set on quest, a journey to find the emptiness he felt and in 2006, he finally took the shahadah. He had nobody to help, to support and to give him da'wah and he solely believed that it was Allah all along that had given him the revelation, through this one dream. He got emotional and teared up (join sekaki pls) when he told us the moment he recited the shahadah, he fell on the floor of the masjid, crying. The feeling..must have been so beautiful.

I even asked a question on his perception of music, now that he has embraced Islam, what are his views on them. I think this question is quite heavy since we have to know the right teachings of music in Islam (or there isnt any maybe? lol). But what he said kinda made sense. For a person like him to live in a neighbourhood where music (hiphop) is sorta like a language, and it became a norm that everyone was into it. In another perspective, it can be their source of rezeki too.

Imagine living the 5 star lifestyle for many years, in the end he left it for Islam. He must have been one of the strongest and luckiest people I know! All in all Im so grateful that people in the world's famous music industry has embraced Islam and making them as inspiration too. InshaAllah.
